Back from the Dead
I suppose it's fitting that a book about zombies had to be killed in order to truly exist. So it was with Quarantined, signed way back in March of last year with Insomnia Publications. The dead horse that is Insomnia has been beat well and good, by myself and many others, so need to dig all that up again here. The short point is this: for awhile, Quarantined was dead. My writing, Monty's art, Lauren's colors, Jim's letters--all of it nearly went for naught.
But now we're back.
I'm happy--thrilled, actually--to announce that Quarantined has been saved by Markosia, and will be released in spring/summer 2011!
This is, to say the least, an exciting time for Quarantined. I've been receiving edits, excellent edits, from GM Jordan, and have been working to make the book as tight, thought-provoking, and entertaining as possible. Jordan and I have had many exchanges, and it's great to work with someone who really gets the book--the pacing, tone, and themes--and knows how to play to its strengths and weaknesses.
Right now, Monty is working on updating some of the art while Lauren and Jim wrap up the remaining pages of the book. We're hoping to see a May release.
Now, it's worth taking a moment to sing the praises of Harry Markos, the man behind Markosia. While I'm still a relative newbie to the comics industry, I know enough to realize that Harry is a rare find. Harry represents pretty much anything I'd want from a publisher--he's open, honest, attentive, and truly cares about his creators and their work. I can't thank him enough.
From this point on, Quarantined is back in full force. We'll all be busy in the coming weeks, and I'll have plenty of updates and insights into where we are and the future of the book.
More soon! But for now, check out a super-cool cover rough from Keith Burns, seen at right!
